About the facility

The Barwon Health Intensive Care Unit is a 24-bed unit, providing tertiary critical care services to the Barwon South Western region. The Intensive Care Unit cares for medical, surgical, and cardiothoracic adults, as well as collaborative programs to care for adult ECMO and critically ill children. The unit also supplies a central vascular access and critical care echocardiography service to Barwon Health. The Intensive Care Unit is actively involved in clinical research, critical care education for Deakin School of Medicine, and education and training of junior doctors and nurses

About the role

The Clinical Support Nurse is responsible for providing education, coaching and clinical advice at an expert level to staff within the Intensive Care Unit as a specialist in Critical Care.  You will provide professional advice and instruction to Registered Nurses working within the ICU, and will contribute advanced skills in clinical decision making, problem identification and solution.  You will facilitate staff attendance at education and training programs, and facilitate support for education where possible.  You will also actively participate in improving care activities and regular audit processes within the ICU, and take a leadership role in strategic issues within the ICU.
