Barwon Health Mental Health Drugs & Alcohol Service is seeking an experienced mental health clinician to join our team in this unique clinical role providing intensive and assertive outreach care to our complex consumers. This is an ideal opportunity to develop both your clinical and leadership skills at a mental health service invested in the ongoing development of its team.

Sitting within one of Victoria’s six regional health centres, Barwon Health serves the community of Greater Geelong and beyond. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. Our Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.  Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.

About the Role

As the successful candidate in this specialist senior clinical role, you will work alongside the consumer’s primary treating team to provide intensive, clinically focussed assertive outreach therapy and support to high needs and complex MHDAS consumers. You will have small case load and autonomy and flexibility in managing and prioritising day to day work flow. Other duties include;

  • Provide clinical leadership and contribute to service quality improvement within MHDAS
  • Increase capacity across MHDAS to utilise and deliver specialist assessment and therapies to MHDAS consumers
  • Provide discipline specific supervision to clinicians and students as required

This role operates between 08:30-17:00 Monday to Friday and the hours/days worked are able to be negotiated within these times.

Desirable: Formal professionally recognised qualification in Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Psychology (including endorsement to practice as a clinical or forensic psychologist)
Essential: At least 5 - 7 years’ experience in a mental health setting
