About the service
Our Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. The department supports a wide range of psychiatric services including general adult psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, old age psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, rural psychiatry, eating disorders, substance misuse disorders, perinatal psychiatry and research psychiatry.
We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients. We have a strong commitment to excellence in clinical education and research activities (the IMPACT & CHIME units) and a dedicated focus on preparing senior trainees for consultant practice.
About the role
The Program Medical Director – Continuing Care Services (CCS) is accountable to the Clinical Director (MHDAS) for the provision of strategic quality, workforce, operational and clinical leadership of the CCS program.
In a shared leadership partnership with the Program Manager of CCS, the Program Medical Director will lead the strategic and operational deliverables of the CCS Program including;
- Clinical quality and safety
- Operational service delivery
- Line management responsibility of staff
- Budget
- Oversight of facilities and equipment/assets
- Risk management
- Workforce health and safety
The Program Medical Director of CCS will support the Clinical Director to serve as a member of the Barwon Health Clinical Leadership Team and provide Barwon Health Executive high level clinical advice that contributes to service planning and implementation.
