- Lead a fully recruited 16 bed unit and multidisciplinary team
- Join an experienced leadership team consisting of 1 x CNC (Gr 5), 3 x CNS's (Gr 4) & 2 x senior allied health psychosocial and discharge coordinators
- Permanent Full Time - 80 hours per fortnight (0830-1700 Mon-Fri)
About the facility
The new McKellar Mental Health & Wellbeing Unit was developed in considered response to the Royal Commission and commenced operations in September 2022. It is a contemporary designed facility with a co-designed model of care that is recovery oriented and trauma informed. This 16 bed unit provides specialised mental health care for older adults (50 years +), including those with complex mental health and general health co-morbidities, with onsite facilities for outpatient appointments.
About You
- Registered Nurse Division 1 (i.e. postgraduate diploma in psychiatric/mental health nursing or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program /training leading to previous registration as a Division 3 Nurse)
- At least five years’ experience in psychiatric nursing or related field
- Strong leadership skills in particular with respect to fostering an engaged team culture and leading and facilitating change
- Well-developed understanding of recovery oriented service delivery in the acute setting
About the role
This NUM position offers the opportunity to lead a unit with a contemporary vision for inpatient service delivery, which has been purposively co-designed by service users (consumers and carers) and service providers.
You will be joining a fully recruited team with an established leadership team consisting of one, full time clinical nurse consultant, three, full time clinical nurse specialists and two, psychosocial and discharge coordinators (Allied Health Grade 3).
Key functions of your positon:
- Lead a recovery oriented, consumer centred approach to service delivery, with an active therapeutic group program, a range of multidisciplinary assessments and treatments, and a peer support program.
- Bed-flow coordination responsibility to ensure those most in need have timely access to beds
- Provide continuous improvement initiatives within the service and to work with the Acute Intervention Services leadership team to provide relevant quality reporting, business planning and service development
