About the facility
Barwon Health's Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery orientated mental health and drug and alcohol assessment, treatment, harm reduction and community and family support to people of all ages within the Barwon Region currently experiencing, or at risk of experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are consumer centred, accessible and family inclusive.
A new initiative coming out of the Royal Commission, the Barwon MH HITH is one of a limited number of HITH programs being established and evaluated across the state of Victoria. The aim is to provide timely and effective, intensive treatment and support for individuals aged 16 years and older with high acuity mental health and / or AOD needs, in their home environment. The service provides 9 adult and youth acute mental health bed-equivalent packages of care and operates 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.
About the role
The Senior Clinician Social Worker will provide evidence-based interventions for consumers and their families/carers in the acute phase of their mental illness and / or alcohol and other drug (AOD) use.
This includes:
- Providing specialist systems based interventions to consumers and their families/carers in line with the consumers’ individual care and treatment plan
- Providing expert community engagement and linkage with key stakeholders
- Providing clinical leadership and contributing to service quality improvement within the Acute Intervention Service and across MHDAS
- Building strengths and augmenting social supports for consumers and their families/carers
About the culture
This is a new service within the established Mental Health Acute Intervention Services team.
