About the facility 

The Acute Neurosciences Unit (ANU) is a new standalone ward with state of the art equipment to support best practise standards and smooth patient flow at University Hospital Geelong. ANU is an 18 bed unit comprised of 16 general neurology beds incorporating a stroke unit, 2 beds for extended epilepsy monitoring and flexibility to accept rapid short stay admissions from the neurology outpatient clinic. The Department of Neurology offers a large team of neurologists who are experienced across all areas of this speciality. The acute service works closely with the Progressive Neurology Clinic (Belmont); Inpatient Neurology Rehab (McKellar Centre, North Geelong) and community Rehabilitation teams across Barwon Health. The Acute Neurosciences Unit Heath Wing 2 is centrally located at University Hospital Geelong, only minutes from our CBD and vibrant waterfront.

About the role 

As a result of amendments to the Safe Patient Care Act, the Acute Neurosciences Unit is looking for highly motivated Registered Nurses to join the team. Additional Registered Nurses are required to recruit into permanent part time positions.

Your role will be within a dynamic and challenging unit where teamwork is paramount. You must have highly developed interpersonal skills as well as sound communication skills both verbal and written. You will have a passion to provide high quality patient care, the ability to work a flexible roster and an interest in quality improvement. Clinical experience will focus on developing patient assessment skills and interventions aimed at providing optimal patient outcomes.
