We are seeking experienced Emergency Mental Health Clinicians to join our team as we expand our services to better meet the needs and expectations of individuals and communities now, and into the future. You will have the opportunity to work across our hospital Emergency Department, PACER and new ED hub whilst tailoring career opportunities to suit your own professional goals.

About the service
Barwon Heath Mental Health Drugs & Alcohol Services are actively building upon our nationally recognised reputation for innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are consumer centred, accessible and recovery orientated.
Our multidisciplinary Emergency Mental Health (EMH) unit provides assessment and treatment across the Hospital Emergency Department and PACER teams, and is often the first point of access for our mental health consumers. Our EMH clinicians will also soon assist servicing the newly developed Emergency Department Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Hub. This 5 bed short stay hub, will support the treatment and assessment of consumers in acute crisis related to mental health, drug and alcohol misuse who may not require an extended admission but would benefit from a brief period of treatment and community follow up. Our EMH unit is forward thinking, supports and drives change, whilst always actively looking for ways to make improvements.
About the role
This is a diverse role where you will have the opportunity to work autonomously and part of our specialised team of clinicians to deliver:
- Timely and effective mental health and drug and alcohol assessments for all consumers and their families who present to the emergency department & hubs with acute mental health/drug and alcohol presentations and crisis.
- Assessment and treatment alongside Victoria Police (PACER) in the community as well as acute assessment and referral to internal teams or external agencies.
- Leadership in both the ongoing development of the acute intervention services and supporting the manager with day to day operations of the team.
