About the facility

The new McKellar Mental Health & Wellbeing Unit was developed in considered response to the Royal Commission and commenced operations in September 2022. It is a contemporary designed facility with a co-designed model of care that is recovery oriented and trauma informed. This 16 bed unit provides specialised mental health care for older adults (50 years +), including those with complex mental health and general health co-morbidities, with onsite facilities for outpatient appointments.

About the Role

Your primary responsibility is to provide high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumers (50+) as part of a multidisciplinary team which operates within a holistic recovery based model.

We are seeking registered psychiatric nurses with:

  • experience in the complexities of working in Acute Mental Health
  • a genuine interest in delivering recovery oriented, consumer centred delivery of care.
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team
