About Barwon Health
Barwon Health is one of Victoria’s largest regional health services with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers.
Our Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) is internationally recognised for providing integrated and recovery oriented mental health assessment, treatment and community support. Our clinical programs are innovative with integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.
About the roles
We currently have full/ or part time opportunities suitable for recently graduated or experienced international mental health nurses across our general acute and community services as well as in our specialist programs.
Key services recruiting include:
- Swanston Centre Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit
Our 32 bed acute psychiatric admission unit provides recovery orientated care delivery for people aged 16 and over, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress.
- McKellar Mental Health Wellbeing Centre
This newly developed 16 bed unit is due to open in September 2022 and will provide specialised mental health care for older adult (50 years +), including those with complex mental health and general health co-morbidities.
Our multidisciplinary unit provides assessment and treatment across the Hospital Emergency Department and PACER teams, and is often the first point of access for our mental health consumers.
Your duties:
- Provide high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumer
- To provide best practice, high quality, consumer focused care that meets best practice standards
- To strive to continuously update and develop skills in a timely manner
About you:
- Recognised Psychiatric/mental health nursing qualifications and experience
- Demonstrates eligibility and compliance with AHPRA registration standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team
- Present a Commitment to working towards a best practice model and delivery of care
