About the facility
University Hospital Geelong has 406 beds and provides a full suite of medical and surgical services, including cardiothoracic surgery and is one of the busiest hospitals in the state. Specialist services extend north to Werribee and south to the South Australian border for major specialities such as cancer, cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery. With the exception of neurosurgery and transplantation, virtually all other specialties are available in Geelong. The renaming to University Hospital Geelong is recognition of the increased focus on education and research as core business and partnerships with Universities.
About the role
We are seeking applications from suitably experienced and qualified clinicians for the positions of Occupational Therapist Grade 2 – Acute Inpatients. You will be part of a team of eight Occupational Therapists who provide services to nine medical and surgical wards, including RAPU (Rapid Assessment Patient Unit), Emergency Department. You will supervise rotational Grade 1 Occupational Therapists and have access to Allied Health Assistants. Participation in the weekend/public holiday roster is a requirement of the position. The role requires an excellent understanding of the continuum of care, a broad range of clinical skills and specialist clinical skills in acute care.
Experience in staff and student supervision is essential for this role, as is the ability to contribute to weekend services. This role requires you to possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal aptitudes. A high level of commitment to best practice in patient care is a must. Additionally, knowledge and experience in the delivery of academic and/or clinical education programs is essential.
