Our Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Directorate is currently recruiting for our newly developed McKellar Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre. The 16 bed unit has been codesigned in response to the Royal Commission, with purpose-built facilities and an innovative model of care. The unit will provide specialised mental health care for older adult (50 years +), including those with complex mental health and general health co-morbidities. In this new era of mental health service reform, Barwon MHDAS are transforming our services and we are seeking expressions of interest from all interested mental health professionals who are curious, passionate, and eager to advance their career.

About the new facility

Barwon Heath Mental Health Drugs & Alcohol Services are actively building upon our nationally recognised reputation for innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are consumer centred, accessible and family inclusive. From the recent Royal Commission, we have been fortunate to receive funding for a new 16 bed Older Adult Acute Mental Health Unit, which is currently being built on our McKellar site. This new contemporary facility has a codesigned model of care that is collaborative, recovery oriented and trauma informed. It will provide clinical inpatient care for consumers aged 50 years+ with acute and sub-acute needs, with onsite facilities for outpatient appointments.

About the Roles

The new McKellar Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre will have a recovery oriented, consumer centred approach to service delivery, with an active therapeutic group program, a range of multidisciplinary assessments and treatments, and a peer support program.

We have a variety of opportunities suitable for mental health professionals to assist us in implementing this vision across a range of experience levels.

Opportunities include:

• Medical (Consultant Psychiatrists, Registrars and Hospital Medical Officers)
• Nursing Leadership ( Clinical Nurse Consultant, RPN2-RPN4)
• Allied Health ( Senior AH, SW, OT, Pharmacy and Lived Experience)
• Psychiatric Nurses ( RPN2; ANUM & PEN)
