Part of a Team

Cardiothoracic Surgery Team offers complete adult acute and elective surgical services to the Western half of Victoria. We operate five days per week and have an inpatient capacity for 15 beds.

The team is led by four consultant surgeons with two clinical nurse specialists. We provide consultation services with three outpatient clinics per week, and inpatient consultation service.

We conduct and participate in three clinical meetings and have fortnightly education meetings.

The scope of surgery includes coronary surgery, valve surgery and minimally invasive surgery, TAVI, and Thoracic Lung surgery with Robotic assistance, as well as Thoracic aortic surgery.

About the Role

The role of Registrar involves providing pre, post and intraoperative care to all patients under the care of the service, in a team environment. Learning and teaching are integral to the role, where you will both learn and teach in the area of cardiothoracic surgery. After hours service is on a rostered basis and supported by a consultant.
