About the facility

Barwon Health’s Operating Services includes three points of care: Main Theatres, Gretta Volum Centre and Building B. Between the three points of care there are in excess of 12 theatres and an endoscopy suite.  

This opportunity is aligned to the Gretta Volum Centre and Building B.

The Gretta Volum Centre is a freestanding day surgery unit within University Hospital Geelong.  It has two operating theatres and one endoscopy procedure room. Services are provided for patients undergoing a broad range of surgical, diagnostic procedures, intravenous therapy, abdominal paracentesis, and CVC line insertions.  Building B is a newly refurbished expansion to Barwon Health’s Operating Services. It comprises of operating theatres, stage one and two recovery, preadmission and discharge facilities. We perform approximately 22,000 procedures per year from specialities such as; Cardiothoracic, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Oral Faciomaxillary, Plastics, Orthopaedic, Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular and Robotic Surgery.

About the role

As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager in the Building B and Gretta Volum Centre you will provide operational, clinical and professional leadership to staff, ensuring practice is aligned with Barwon Health’s values. You will ensure the effective provision of patient care in the assistance of nursing staff in the areas of patient welfare, comfort, hygiene and transport in order to achieve and maintain quality patient outcomes. Duties of your role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Managing day to day functioning of the shift to ensure operational requirements of the department are met.
  • Effective daily allocation of staffing resources to ensure effective skills mix
  • Model a superior approach to education, interpersonal relationships, teamwork and communication model for Clinical Nurse Specialists and RN’s.
