About the facility

University Hospital's, Maternity Services is the referral centre for Geelong and surrounding areas and has approximately 2,500 births per year. Services include specialty pregnancy care clinics, including midwives clinics, adolescent pregnancy care, chemical dependency pregnancy care, shared care, midwifery group practice and specialist obstetric clinics.

About the role

Are you a Midwife looking for a career within Maternity Services? If so, we are looking to recruit a midwife to work within the Midwifery Group Practice at University Hospital Geelong. Midwives interested in working autonomously across their scope of practice, with the opportunity to focus on women's needs and expectations, are encouraged to apply.

As the successful applicant you will be committed to providing holistic care across the continuum of pregnancy, intrapartum and the extended postnatal period providing continuity of care for women with your partnering midwife. Flexibility and adaptability to work in self-managed hours are important components of the role. A proven commitment to woman-centred, flexible and innovative in practice including an evidence-based approach to care is required. You will require Midwifery experience across the scope of practise, clinical competence and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Essential: Current Australian driver’s license
Essential: Establish and implement standards of practice that are necessary for optimal client outcomes
Essential: Work in collaboration with MGP midwives, the MGP coordinator and other members of the health care team within a multidisciplinary environment
Essential: Ensure appropriate referral pathways and accountability utilising the ACM consultation and referral guidelines for midwives and Barwon Health clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures
Essential: Ability to be self-directed, innovative and motivated
Essential: A proficiency in midwifery practice across the pregnancy to parenting continuum
Essential: I agree, to commence employment, I am required to meet Barwon Health’s immunisation requirements (including full Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination) set out in the Staff Immunisation Policy. I acknowledge that meeting this requirement is mandatory and a condition of employment subsequently offered.
