About the facility

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health services with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.

About the role

As the Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder you will code and audit inpatient episodes to an agreed quantity and quality in accordance with internal and external deadlines. You will be part of a dynamic team who thrive in a challenging environment. You will be supported by our coding auditors/educators and participate in education sessions and be provided with opportunities to be your best.

Essential: Qualification in Health Information Management or Clinical Coding
Desirable: Experience in Clinical Coding and demonstrated knowledge of Australian and Victorian Coding standards and Casemix
Essential: Sound communication skills, including well-developed written and oral skills
Essential: Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, set priorities, and meet deadlines, accompanied by an ability to handle a number of tasks concurrently with minimum supervision
Essential: Commitment to innovation and supportive of change
Essential: Ability to work within a team and autonomously
Desirable: Experience in Clinical Coding Auditing
Desirable: Proven strength in developing professional relationships with all levels of staff
Desirable: I agree to meet Barwon Health’s immunisation requirements (including full COVID vaccination) as set out in Barwon Health’s Staff Immunisation Policy as amended from time to time.
