About the organisation
Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West Region. It is Victoria's largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state. We serve over 500,000 people through the effort of over 8,000 staff and more than 1000 volunteers.
Our Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Service is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery oriented service delivery to redesign our service system.
We provide integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.
About the facility
The Swanston Centre is a 32 bed acute psychiatric admission unit providing recovery orientated care delivery for people aged 16 and over, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress.
We are fortunate to enjoy excellent internal relationships within our wide range of clinical programs and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients. The newly establish high dependency unit is opening in early December and now is great chance to be involved in this change that will better serve our community and consumers.
About the role
As the Enrolled Nurse, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Providing high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumers
- Being part of the multidisciplinary team operating from a Recovery Orientated perspective.
- Demonstrating respect for individual’s values, customs and spiritual beliefs to ensure patient care is effective and culturally appropriate
The role is responsible for the delivery of best practice, evidence based treatment to people with emerging or established mental health difficulties. PENs will work under the supervision of the Registered Psychiatric Nurse and team leader.
