About the role

The new General Paediatric Outpatients is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled paediatric nurse to become an integral part of the outpatient team with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. We are looking for someone who is able to perform a range of roles, from typical nursing duties (measurements/specimen collection), to liaison with external GP nurses to guide outpatient monitoring, to active involvement in quality improvement and research.

Duties of your role include but not limited to:

  • Organisation/allocation of clinic appointments in discussion with the Paediatric Fellow and Clinic Coordinator
  • Attending case conferencing and recording minutes (shared role with allied health staff attending MDCs)
  • Measuring anthropometry - ie. height, weight and head circumference of all in person patients will be measured and recorded in the EMR each clinic
  • Measuring blood pressure (relevant patients as required only)
  • Administering parental questionnaires - ie. ASQ, patient satisfaction
  • Data entry in to REDCap (with appropriate training)
  • Opportunity to contribute to audits, quality improvement and research
  • Available to act as a chaperone during sensitive examinations/discussions
  • Assisting with pathology/specimen collection as required - ie. genetic testing swabs/urine samples
  • Providing parents information handouts and explanation about common conditions
  • Liaising with GP clinic nurses to arrange blood pressure checks/skin review/immunisation catch-up as required
