- Fixed Term Full Time – 80 hrs per fortnight (until 27.10.23)
- No weekends or nights. Work business hours from Monday to Friday.
- Multidisciplinary role – suitable for RPN, OT, Psychologist, Social Worker
- Partner with Forensicare to build forensic mental health expertise and capacity in mental health services
About the service
Barwon Mental Health Drug Alcohol Service provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.
About the role
The purpose of the Forensic Clinical Specialist program is to improve expertise and capacity of the clinical mental health workforce to optimally assess and manage offending and problem behaviours, and to develop strong and collaborative practice between key stakeholders.
Key functions of the role include:
- Improve the capability of the MHDAS clinical workforce to optimally assess, manage and improve clinical outcomes for people with co-occurring mental health, offending and problem behaviours through the provision of expert forensic mental health advice, consultation, education and professional development
- Improve coordination and clinical pathways for transfer of care of the target consumer cohort, particularly during discharge, transfer or release, and
- Lead and support the development of strong collaborative relationships and quality improvement activities between mental health services and justice services (including police, Corrections, prisons, Courts and Forensicare).
About you
- Expertise and extensive experience in forensic mental health assessment and treatment
- Highly developed leadership skills with respect to engagement, capacity building and facilitating change
- Highly developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively consult, liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders and service providers
