About the facility

The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is responsible for delivery of specialist evidence based mental health assessments and treatments to women in the perinatal period, infants, children and young people up to 16 years. Specialist clinics are provided for perinatal, infant mental health and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The service also provides specialist training and consultation to other child and family services.

About you

  • Holds a formal qualification in Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work or Clinical/Forensic/Neuro Psychology
  • Experienced clinical skills in the psychiatric assessment and treatment of infants, children and adolescents up to 16 years of age
  • Advanced clinical decision making skills regarding the management of risk in relation to young people
  • Demonstrated education and supervisory skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the objectives and provisions of the Mental Health Act (2014)
  • Project development experience

About the role

In this role you will be responsible for high-level direct care to children, young people and their families, along with leadership and management responsibilities within the broader service, including supervision and education of staff and operational and clinical support. A key responsibility of the role will be to oversee networks that identify and link children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and their families to appropriate support services and deliver improved outcomes.

The percentage of clinical to leadership/management duties will be 60% to 40% respectively.

  • The leadership/management duties are likely to incorporate one or more of the following:
    • Access/Intake
    • Infant Mental Health
    • Community development /liaison
    • Duty/Risk and generalist child psychiatric assessment
    • Child and Adolescent Schools Early Action Program (CASEA)
    • Project development including wellbeing network
