We are an award winning regional health provider and Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals (The University Hospital Geelong) in the state. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 21 key locations throughout the region.
About the role
You will provide care of Ophthalmology patients referred to Barwon Health and to assist in the management of the Barwon Health Ophthalmology service.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Assessment of urgent emergency clinical problems in a timely and prompt manner
• Organisation of admission of urgent patients as indicated
• Initiation of urgent medical treatment as needed
• Provision of first contact consultation forward referrals.
• Performance of appropriate assessment of outpatients, both review and new patients
• Complete a thorough ocular examination of all patients
• Management of uncomplicated postoperative cases
• In clear cut cases arrange listing of patients on to the waiting list for surgery
• Assessment of all public patients undergoing surgery at Barwon health
