About the facility 

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South Western Region.  It is Victoria's largest regional health service and one of the busiest hospital's in the State.  We serve a population of over 500,000 through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1,200 volunteers.  We provide care at all stages of life and circumstances through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care and subacute/rehabilitation.  Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.

About the Andrew Love Cancer Centre (ALCC)

The ALCC is a comprehensive cancer centre that has provided expert care to those affected by cancer in Geelong and Barwon South West of Victoria, in a supportive and caring environment since 1992.

Our service gives adults living in the region access to world class cancer treatment.  Based in Geelong, we have state of the art facilities, equipment and highly skilled health professionals who provide personalised, patient centered and effective care.  Chemotherapy, haematology and radiotherapy services are provided at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre

The radiotherapy service at Barwon Health is one of four public radiotherapy service providers in Victoria. The service uses Varian planning software and has three True beam linacs with a dedicated planning CT and superficial radiotherapy unit. As a public radiotherapy provider the service works collaboratively with the other public radiotherapy centres to deliver personalised treatment for patients of Geelong and the Southwest region.

About the role

Barwon Health is seeking a senior radiation oncologist to provide leadership and ensure safe, high quality, patient focused care. The Head of Unit - Radiation Oncology will oversee the development of the Radiation Therapy Service at Barwon Health, so that it continues to meet the needs of our Community.  For further detail relating to specific duties, please refer to the attached position description.

Essential: Possess a genuine interest in developing and refining the radiation oncology service to meet the needs of the patient, their family and the wider Community
Essential: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable: Relevant management qualification
Desirable: Previous experience leading a team of radiation oncologists
