About the facility

This role will be part of a progressive and integrated team delivering services to Northern Suburbs of Geelong. Urgent Care will provide a new service type to our community, which will allow access to walk in services at a local level. Barwon Health North is a new integrated facility, which will boost access to services to our community in the North.

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Urgent Care Centre (UCC) will provide evidence based care in an ambulatory setting; to patients in consultation with Medical Practitioner and other health care providers in a diverse community.

The NP has specific clinical responsibilities for clinical practice within scope in relation to certain patient presentations and admissions.

The NP has a clinical leadership role in the program. The team consists of other Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses with access to Allied Health Support.

There is a requirement that they be a registered nurse educated and authorised to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role within their scope of practise, providing innovative and flexible health solutions, whilst being a clinical leader influencing and progressing evidence based clinical practises and procedures.

Specifically this will be achieved by:

  • Providing leadership, guidance and accountability pertaining to clinical standards to achieve high quality health care.
  • Demonstrating behaviours and attitudes that are consistent with Barwon Health's values and strategic plan and professional nursing philosophy.
  • Supporting the relevant leaders to build and maintain high performing clinical team that operates within a performance framework to drive a culture of accountability, best practice and innovation.
  • Fostering a culture of ongoing development and improvement.
