About the facility

Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 7,000 staff and more than 1000 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 23 key locations throughout the region.

About the role

We are currently building our workforce in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, if you are currently enrolled at a university and you are a year 2nd or 3rd year nursing student we’d love to hear from you.

To be considered for the position of RUSON you must hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a student nurse, and who at commencement, has successfully completed not less than 12 months of the Bachelor of Nursing degree.

The successful applicant upon commencement will provided with education and orientation that will ensure you are work ready.

As a RUSON you will work in acute or subacute care and aged care settings as part of the healthcare team, helping nurses to provide patient care. RUSONs will work under the delegation and supervision of registered nursing staff, and may help with a range of activities such as patients’ daily living activities (personal hygiene and mobility) whilst keeping the ward organised and safe. In addition the RUSON will be required to undertake some basic administration.
