About the facility 

Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. About Operating Services

Barwon Health’s Operating Services includes 3 points of care; Main theatres, Gretta Volum Centre and now Building B. Between the 3 points of care there are 16 theatres and one endoscopy suite, we perform approximately 22,000 procedures per year from specialities such as; Cardiothoracic, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Oral Faciomaxillary, Plastics, Orthopaedic, Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular and Robotic Surgery.

About the role 

Take this rare opportunity to grow your nursing career in a supportive and exciting leadership position within an innovative, growing Operating Services department. This integral role has overall management of the Scrub Scout Main Theatre functions, operational budget of unit, staff rosters as well as daily HR/OH&S/Payroll issues.

It is important in this role that you ensure maintenance of the required skill mix and consistency of staff and lead a team of senior, junior and novice staff spread across unit. As the NUM you will also be responsible for maintaining, updating, initiating and participating in the development of policies and procedures and managing ANUM portfolios and regular meetings.

You will be responsible for conducting staff appraisals and coaching staff and sharing organisational wide important information to the team as required. Quality Improvement initiatives are also very important in this role as well as the promotion of continuous improvement initiatives for unit.
