About the facility

Bellarine community health centre is one of five community centre’s at Barwon Health. A multidisciplinary team, you will be working with podiatrists, physiotherapist, psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, speech pathologists, community health nurses and occupational therapists. Bellarine Community centre also provides care for clients requiring Hospital in the Home, Post-Acute and Palliative care.

About you

  • Trained in the delivery of a peer led approach to service delivery 
  • Lived experience of mental illness (distress)  
  • Lived experience of engagement with public mental health services
  • Lived experience of Recovery and capacity to reflect on personal recovery processes
  • Previous experience as a peer worker and/or senior peer worker
  • Deep knowledge of peer support principles

About the role

  • As guided by the Lived Experience Discipline Lead and the Operational Manager of the Bellarine Community Centre, the Senior Consumer Peer Worker will:
  • Provide individual and peer support to people with a lived experience of mental distress who access therapy services
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and peer workers to develop effective peer supports
  • Provide supervisory input to peer workers and lead peer program development
  • This position plays a vital role in supporting the ongoing development of peer work, voice of lived experience in the tertiary mental health system, and integration within clinical services.
