Barwon Health’s Mental Health, Drugs & Alcohol Services (MHDAS) Therapy Services are seeking a consumer-focused and dedicated clinician to join our evolving service. Part of this expansion includes a newly created position within our youth psychotherapy program for a clinician to provide specialist assessment and therapies for MHDAS consumers in line with consumers’ care and treatment plans. - Lead development of psychotherapies for young people with personality disorders, trauma backgrounds and emerging psychosis
- Provide specialist psychotherapy services within an encouraging and innovative team
- Open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists
- Permanent Full Time – 80 hours per fortnight (inclusive of 1 x accrued day off per month)
About the facility
Therapy Services provide specialist assessment, consultation and evidenced-based psychotherapies as part of consumers’ treatment within Barwon Health's community based Mental Health services. This includes dedicated allied health inputs, autism spectrum disorders services, comprehensive psychotherapy programs, and supervision of students and trainees. Our therapists come from a range of disciplines including social work, psychology, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, psychiatry and lived experience. Therapy Services contributes to increasing capacity across the MHDAS directorate to utilise and deliver specialist assessment and therapies. Our therapeutic approaches include:
- Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
- Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR)
- Cognitive processing therapy (CPT)
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Mentalisation based treatment (MBT)
- Occupational therapy
About the role
This newly created role involves providing direct clinical work both individually and in groups with a focus on youth. You will work collaboratively with our youth continuing care team to ensure integrated care for complex consumers. Other duties include:
- Participating in service quality improvement within Therapy Services and across MHDAS
- Contributing to increasing capacity across MHDAS to utilise and deliver specialist assessment and therapies to youth
