Our Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) is internationally recognised for providing integrated and recovery oriented mental health assessment, treatment and community support. Our clinical programs are innovative with integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

Your new role

Swanston Centre Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Unit (SCA)

Our 32 bed acute psychiatric admission unit provides recovery orientated care delivery for people aged 16 and over, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress.

McKellar Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit (MK MHWBU)

This  newly developed 16 bed unit is due to open in September 2022 and will provide specialised mental health care for older adult (50 years +), including those with complex mental health and general health co-morbidities.

Your duties:

  • Provide high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumers
  • Provide best practice, high quality, consumer focused care that meets best practice standards
  • Strive to continuously update and develop skills in a timely manner
  • Ensure a multidisciplinary approach

Shifts in our acute services include AM/PM-8 hours and night shift-10 hours.

About you:

  • Recognised Psychiatric/mental health nursing qualifications and experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Committed to working towards a best practice model and delivery of care
