Are you looking for a Graduate Midwife or Combined Graduate Nurse/Midwife Program in 2023?
Barwon Health is looking for graduate midwives who are currently completing a Bachelor of Midwifery or Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery (double degree) to join a well-established and supportive graduate program commencing in February 2023.
Barwon Health Maternity Services provides pregnancy, birth and post-natal care to the Geelong community and the wider Barwon South West region. Our staff are dedicated to providing quality, safe and culturally appropriate care in partnership with women and their families using evidence-based care to achieve the best health outcomes.
In 2023, Barwon Health will offer the following midwifery programs:
- Graduate Midwife Program - 12 months maternity services
- Combined Graduate Nurse/Midwife Program - 6 months nursing/6 months maternity services
Graduate nurses and midwives working at Barwon Health can expect to join a program that offers great clinical support and guidance whilst challenging you to be your best. Graduates will work in dynamic and busy clinical environments at the University Hospital Geelong.
The program offers the following:
- 53 week program
- Work 64 hours/fortnight
- Dedicated graduate team including a Clinical Support Midwife
- Orientation program and study days throughout the year
- Supernumerary time in each rotation
- Weekly access to graduate professional development
- Access to further professional development and completion of competencies
- Proven opportunities for ongoing employment and career development at Barwon Health. We currently have a 100% retention rate for graduates completing our Midwifery graduate programs.

- Upload a letter of application (no more than one page) clearly stating which program/s you are applying for and address to:

- Upload concise CV (no more than three pages) listing all clinical placements including service name, clinical area, type of placement and dates of placement in table format
- Name and direct contact details of two clinical referees
- Name and direct contact details of one most recent employment referee
- Upload your most recent official academic transcript including the key to results
In addition to your application online, please provide your clinical appraisals via post:
- Must be certified and/or the university stamp or watermark visible
- 3 most recent clinical appraisal tools regardless of the clinical setting (Graduate Midwife Program)
OR
- 3 most recent midwifery placement appraisal tools PLUS 2 most recent nursing placement appraisal tools (Combined Graduate Nurse/Midwife Program)
Please note: for applicants providing printed appraisal tools from PebblePad, documents do not need to be certified.
If at the time of application you do not have the required number of clinical appraisals, please submit what you have with a short note to explain your circumstances.

Applicants progressing to the next stage will be notified via email. Interviews will take place in August and September with the format still to be confirmed due to the ongoing pandemic situation.
