University Hospital Geelong Emergency Department treats approximately 75,000 patients per year with 30% paediatric presentations. With access to all major specialties except Neurosurgery and Transplant Medicine, the variety and acuity of conditions treated makes for a stimulating work environment. Our geographic location results in high exposure to trauma cases, marine and land based toxicology and medical outreach to more peripheral centres. About the Role

As an ED registrar, you have access to 24 months accredited ED time as a trainee 3 or 6 month rotations in:

  • ICU
  • Anaesthetics
  • Paediatrics
  • General Medicine
  • Obstetrics & Gynaecology

6 month rotation at Colac Area Health (no night shift, evenings or weekends)

  • 2 days per week in Urgent Care Centre
  • 1.5 days per week of anaesthetics with GP anaesthetist
  • 0.5 days per week performing safety and quality activities
  • Protected time to attend weekly registrar teaching at UHG

3 or 6 month rotation to St John of God Geelong ED with linked accreditation enabling participation in the University Hospital Geelong education program.

 

Optional Secondment to Alice Springs ED

 

5 hours paid and protected teaching time per week

 

Annual success in primary and fellowship examinations owing to longstanding robust preparation programs

Research opportunities either to fulfil trainee research requirement or to pursue academic interest
