You would be required to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team, and must have an advanced level of decision-making that will be pivotal in providing timely access to high quality and responsive care in the Urgent Care Centre.

This role will be a part of the North Area Health Team, and care will be delivered by a team of nursing professionals, supported by remote specialist advice from the Barwon Health Emergency Department (ED) and inpatient teams accessed by Tele-Health.

The Nurse Practitioner Urgent Care Centre will provide evidence based care in an ambulatory setting; to patients in consultation with Medical Practitioner and other health care providers in a diverse community. The Nurse Practitioner has a clinical leadership role in the program. Leading the clinical team in providing evidence based care and assisting with the development of all clinical team members. There is a requirement that they be an Endorsed Nurse Practitioner who is experienced and confident to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role within their scope of practise, providing innovative and flexible health solutions, whilst being a clinical leader influencing and progressing evidence based clinical practises and procedures.

Specifically this will be achieved by:

  • Providing leadership, guidance and accountability pertaining to clinical standards to achieve high quality health care.
  • Demonstrating behaviours and attitudes that are consistent with Barwon Health's values and strategic plan and professional nursing philosophy.
  • Supporting the relevant Managers to build and maintain high performing clinical team that operates within a performance framework to drive a culture of accountability, best practice and innovation.
