Part of a Team

The Barwon Health network is Victoria's largest Internal Medicine service outside of Melbourne with a broad range of subspecialty support. There are over 1000 beds across the network, with 6500 general medical admissions per year in addition to sub-specialty admissions. The Barwon Physician Training team support approximately 55 Basic Physician Trainees (BPT's) through BPT1-BPT3 with a comprehensive program to ensure successful completion of all BPT requirements before commencing as an Advanced Physician Trainee (APT). The network also supports 34 specialist APT's and 7 General and Acute Medicine APT's.

Trainees have the opportunity to live and work on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, with options to rotate to other regional centres such as Warrnambool, Hamilton, Ballarat and Werribee. Wave goodbye to traffic jams and roadworks, and say hello to wineries, beaches and national parks. You can do all this while enjoying the benefits of a boutique but substantial and successful physician training program with all the supports.

Barwon Health also has significant academic interests with a local and active clinical trials unit and university links for future academic pursuits such as an MD or PhD.
