About the service
Barwon Heath’s Mental Health Drugs & Alcohol Services are actively building upon our nationally recognised reputation for innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are consumer centred, accessible and family inclusive.
We provide integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.
Your new role
McKellar Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit (MK MHWBU)
The MK MHWBU is a brand new, purpose built mental health facility, providing care to independent adults aged 50 years and above, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress. The new unit (due to open in September), has been co-designed and will operate under a new model of care that reflects the recommendations from the Royal Commission.
Swanston Centre Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Unit (SCA)
Our 32 bed acute psychiatric admission unit provides recovery orientated care delivery for people aged 18-50, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress.
Your duties:
- Providing high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumers
- Being part of the multidisciplinary team operating from a Recovery Orientated perspective
- Demonstrating respect for individual’s values, customs and spiritual beliefs to ensure patient care is effective and culturally appropriate
The role is responsible for the delivery of best practice, evidence based treatment to people with emerging or established mental health difficulties. PENs will work under the supervision of the Registered Psychiatric Nurse and team leader.
