About the service
The Colac Adult and Youth team is part of the wider Barwon Health MHDAS continuing care service. We function as an integrated service, providing crisis and scheduled intake assessments, drug and alcohol intake services and case management within an experienced and supportive team.
About the role
The aim of the program is to support service users on their recovery journeys, enhance their connection with their local communities and reduce the risk of unplanned re-admission to the Units.
The key objectives of this role are:
Utilise your lived experience of mental illness/distress and recovery to
- Develop connections with service users in the Swanston Centre, Hospital in the Home, the McKellar Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre and the PARC/CRF (the Units).
- Provide post-discharge peer support to service users for a period of 28 days.
About you
You will have lived experience of overcoming the impact of mental illness/ distress and/or drug and alcohol use. Your knowledge of peer support principles will enable you to support others through respectful and intentional sharing of lived experience. In addition, your demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills will be valuable in building and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Living Expenses capped at $9,010 and includes repayments on mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and rental payments / Meal Entertainment & Accommodation capped at $2,650 and includes food and drink consumed in a social or entertainment settings.
