About the service
Our Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. The department supports a wide range of psychiatric services including general adult psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, old age psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, rural psychiatry, eating disorders, substance misuse disorders, perinatal psychiatry and research psychiatry.
We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients. We have a strong commitment to excellence in clinical education and research activities (the IMPACT & CHIME units) and a dedicated focus on preparing senior trainees for consultant practice.
About the role
The Program Medical Director – MHDAS Quality Program – is accountable to the Clinical Director (MHDAS) for the provision of strategic quality, workforce, operational and clinical leadership to significantly contribute to the achievement of Barwon Health’s strategic objectives within the Directorate.
You will participate as a member of MHDAS Executive Leadership group, and provide high level clinical, strategic and operational leadership that contributes to the achievement of Barwon Health and MHDAS strategic priorities.
In a shared leadership partnership with the Director of Nursing and Quality, the core objectives of the role will be to deliver the MHDAS Quality Program, including:
- Coordinating directorate wide Clinical Governance and Quality activities, including leadership and oversight of clinical risk, medico-legal activities, case reviews and system improvements (including translational research), and linking these activities with the relevant Barwon Health quality systems.
- Coordinating and deliver MHDAS workforce capability programs, including education and discipline specific activities aligned with organisational goals
- Acting as Medical Discipline lead, and oversight the delivery of medical training pathways, recruitment, supervision, credentialing and reporting requirements
