Sitting within one of Victoria’s six regional health centres, Barwon Health serves the community of Greater Geelong and beyond. Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. About the role 

Barwon Health are now recruiting for Geriatrics Accredited Registrars/Advanced trainees for 2021. As the Geriatrics Accredited Registrars/Advanced trainees you will be required to provide effective supervised day to day clinical management of both ambulatory and admitted patients, whilst fulfilling Medical Board of Victoria pre-registration training requirements. 

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Attending to patients of varying acuity and condition and to ensure the assessment and management of these patients is appropriate, timely and clearly documented.
  • Prioritising treatment of multiple patients simultaneously according to urgency of conditions
  • Formulating and executing appropriate management plans for patients Recognise personal limitations with an ability to judge when to seek advice and/or assistance
  • Involving supervising consultants as appropriate to ensure quality patient care is attained and maintained.

Essential: Completion of a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent) either in Australia or if at an overseas university, completed both parts of the Australian Medical Council (AMC) exams.
