Formed in 1998, Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. Health services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care. With the exception of neurosurgery and transplantation, virtually all other specialties are available through University Hospital Geelong.

About the role
This is a great opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager to lead the Commercial Finance team. Your responsibilities will be to improve Barwon Health financial performance by evaluating opportunities for improvement.
Other responsibilities include;
- Lead the commercial team in evaluating and making recommendations for business structure changes to improve business efficiency and financial performance
- Work collaboratively with the Executive and their teams to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Undertake benchmarking to identify opportunities for reform or improvement.
- Build and own the financial modelling of the five year strategic plan.
- Management of the 5 Year Capital plan expenditure.
- Provide direction to the project implementation plans for agreed annual initiatives
- Provide recommendation on changes to policies and procedures which strengthen the control and financial outcomes for the organisation
- Perform post implementation reviews to ensure financial outcomes achieve following the implementation of initiatives
- Deputise and undertake other tasks for the Chief Financial Officer as required.
You must hold a Finance degree and demonstrate previous commercial experience and experience in the health industry desirable but not essential. Strong leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills combined with a "can do” attitude are all essential for this role. CPA or CA membership is required.

Selection Criteria

Essential: Relevant University accounting or commerce qualification and membership of the CPA/ICAA Essential: Senior Management level experience to be able to develop and influence outcomes in a large, multifaceted organisation Essential: Demonstrated solid financial planning skills Essential: Successful development and implementation of sound systems and procedures with large scale financial resources Essential: Excellent staff management and leadership skills and the capacity to develop and nurture a professional team Essential: Proven ability within a Health Sector to provide expert, sound, concise and reliable financial advice to senior executives on the performance of complex program operations Essential: Solid grasp of public sector financial operations Desirable: Ability to handle large amounts of information and detail in an organised & efficient way Desirable: Ability to lead and convince Senior staff in the development and implementation of financial initiatives Desirable: Ability to identify and prioritise strategic business and financial issues Desirable: Ability to lead, direct and motivate staff Desirable: Track record of Change Management Desirable: Ability to adapt to change Desirable: Ability to win respect and a following at all levels Desirable: Innovative and creative approach to strategic planning and problem solving Desirable: Highly effective negotiation skills Desirable: Superior interpersonal, written & verbal skills
