About the facility

DAS provides clinical treatment and harm reduction services for people seeking assistance with their substance use. We provide comprehensive assessment, counselling, non-residential withdrawal, brief intervention and bridging support, and care co-ordination for people seeking treatment for their substance use.

DAS is located in central Geelong in newly refurbished offices and is in close proximity to University Hospital. The location provides great access to the Geelong shopping and arts precinct, the Geelong Waterfront and public transport. About you

  • Degree in Social Work from an accredited course
  • Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • At least 7 years’ experience, possessing specific knowledge and work experience, as per EBA classification
  • Demonstrated skills in the assessment, treatment and care of people with alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and/or complex mental health and psychosocial needs
  • Sound knowledge of the ethical, theoretical and practicable foundations and principles applicable to Social Work in a community setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience sufficient to lead the professional development of others

About the role

As the Senior Clinician Social Worker, your primary objectives will be:

  • Providing discipline specific assessments and interventions for DAS consumers
  • Providing clinical and line management leadership within the team in collaboration with the Manager and Addiction Psychiatrist
  • Contributing to service quality improvement
  • Providing discipline specific supervision to staff and students
