About the service

MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery oriented service delivery to redesign our service system.

About the role 

As the consultation liaison (CL) nurse you will focus on the mental health care of people in Barwon Health bed-based (generalist) settings. You will aim to improve outcomes in patient care from a mental health perspective by working directly with patients and indirectly through increasing the capacity of staff to recognise and attend to the mental health needs of patients in these settings.

Other duties of your role include;

  • Provide guidance, education and support to generalist staff caring for patients and collaborate with them in developing a plan of care
  • Working with the organisation as a mental health resource on mental health related projects
  • Acting as a link between generalist and mental health services (public and private, hospital and community)

You must be able to work a roster across two shifts (0700-1530 and 1330-2200hrs) Monday – Sunday.
