About the facility
Formed in 1998, Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional Health Services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. Health services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care. With the exception of neurosurgery and transplantation, virtually all other specialties are available through the Geelong Hospital.
About the role

Barwon health is now recruiting Constant Patient Observers. As a Constant Patient Observer (CPO), you will work for Barwon Health bed based services to provide support to patients. This opportunity is open to Students currently undertaking studies in a Health related field at Degree level, with a minimum of 6 months course credits.
You will provide a service to patients within Barwon Health requiring increased constant supervision. As the CPO you are utilised to support patient safety for those patients who have been assessed as being “at risk” by registered nursing or medical staff. These ‘at risk’ patients may be experiencing delirium, dementia or other cognitive impairments. Their medical condition may result in the patient displaying 'at risk behaviours" such as confusion, agitation, disorientation, impulsiveness, sensory loss, wandering, tearfulness, or at risk of falls. These patients in some way require intensive resource support and someone to be with them constantly.
Applicants must be available to attend a group interview on Monday 28th May and if successful a compulsory study day on Thursday 21st June.
