About the facility

The Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services facility has an acute unit with 32 beds and provides care for Mental Health teams located through Geelong and Colac for people with Mental Health problems and substance abuse Issues.

About the role

The Swanston Centre Inpatient Facility is a unit which provides inpatient services for Youth, Adult and Aged consumers within the Barwon Region. The position will form part of a therapeutic team delivering group and individual interventions, and O.T specific assessments/interventions to the consumer group. The Occupational Therapist will operate within a multidisciplinary framework contributing to assessment and treatment planning within the service.

Selection Criteria Essential: Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
Essential: Eligible for full membership with OT Australia Inc.
Essential: Current Victorian Driver’s License
Desirable: At least 2 years full time Occupational Therapy clinical experience in Mental Health.
Essential: Sound knowledge of the ethical, theoretical and practicable foundations and principles applicable to Occupational Therapy in an inpatient setting
Essential: Proven assessment skills in the treatment and care of people with a major mental illness or disability.
Essential: Knowledge of and skills in current psychiatric treatment modalities and approaches to management of mental disorders.
