About the facility

The Barwon Health ICU is a 24-bed ICU, providing tertiary critical care services to the Barwon South Western region. The ICU cares for medical, surgical, and cardiothoracic adults, as well as collaborative programs to care for adult ECMO and critically ill children. The ICU unit supplies a central vascular access and critical care echocardiography service to Barwon Health. The ICU is actively involved in clinical research, critical care education for Deakin School of Medicine, and education and training of junior doctors and nurses.

About the role

The ICU Equipment Nurse role manages ICU medical equipment and consumables related to patient care in the ICU, providing support for ICU Technicians including induction to the ICU and education as required, and working with internal and external stakeholders to maintain equipment and ensure current best practices are adhered too.

This role includes medical equipment and consumables management and ordering, equipment troubleshooting, review of equipment information, trials and training, monitoring of and adherence to periodical maintenance processes, and safety and quality and OHS management.  

The successful applicant will have advanced skills in clinical decision making and ICU medical equipment, understanding of budgets and development of policies and procedures, ability to clearly identify issues and provide solutions, be able to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, and be able to provide expert advice, guidance and support to all staff in regards to medical equipment and consumables

Desirable: Currently practicing as a Critical Care Nurse in an Intensive Care environment
Desirable: Understanding of and commitment to Health Service Key Performance Indicators
