About the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS)

MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery oriented service delivery to redesign our service system. 

About the Role

As the successful candidate in this specialist senior clinical role, you will work alongside the consumer’s primary treating team to provide intensive, clinically focussed assertive outreach therapy and support to high needs and complex MHDAS consumers. You will have small case load and autonomy and flexibility in managing and prioritising day to day work flow. Other duties include;

  • Provide intensive, clinically focussed assertive outreach therapy and support to high needs and complex MHDAS consumers in line with the consumer’s treatment and care plan and recovery goals, as a less restrictive alternative to admission to a mental health inpatient setting
  • Provide clinical leadership and contribute to service quality improvement within MHDAS
  • Increase capacity across MHDAS to utilise and deliver specialist assessment and therapies to MHDAS consumers
  • Provide discipline specific supervision to clinicians and students as required

*Living Expenses capped at $9,010 and includes repayments on mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and rental payments

Essential: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, continual improvement, risk management and occupational health and safety.
Essential: Formal professionally recognised qualification in Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Psychology (including endorsement to practice as a clinical or forensic psychologist)
Essential: At least 5 - 7 years’ experience in a mental health setting
