About the facility 

The Barwon Health Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 24-bed ICU, providing tertiary critical care services to the Barwon South Western region. The ICU cares for medical, surgical, and cardiothoracic adults, as well as collaborative programs to care for adult ECMO and critically ill children. The ICU unit supplies a central vascular access and critical care echocardiography service to Barwon Health. The ICU is actively involved in clinical research, critical care education for Deakin School of Medicine, and education and training of junior doctors and nurses. 

About the role 

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated nurse to be part of the education team. The successful applicant’s role will be to act as a specialist in the particular field of Critical Care, providing education, coaching and clinical advice at an expert level to staff within the Intensive Care Unit.

Your duties will include but are not limited to;

• Provide professional advice and instruction to Registered Nurses Division 1 that work in the Intensive Care Unit
• The facilitation and development of education programs
• Learning materials and education opportunities for Registered Nurses
• Provision support and contribute to quality improvement and research projects
• Decisions regarding day-to-day ward functioning
