About the facility 

Barwon Health's Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery orientated mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and / or drug and alcohol issues, and their families. 

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.

About the role 

As an Access Clinician, you will be part of the 24-7 Mental Health phone triage function, Emergency Mental Health Service (both in University Hospital Geelong Emergency Department and through the established PACER role) and will undertake community-based assessments. Across all these functions, it is imperative that access is provided in a timely manner, in the most appropriate service location.

Access Clinicians understand and appreciate cultural differences as expressed in lifestyles, values and experiences, and take these differences into account in the clinical response through collaborative decision making with the individual and their family.

Essential: Formal professionally recognised qualifications in Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Clinical Psychology, including full registration with AHPRA for relevant disciplines

Essential: Demonstrated advanced level of clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of people with mental health and substance use disorders in a community setting
