  • Newly created senior clinical psychologist position within the Community Acute Intervention Service MH outreach team
  • Provide evidence-based brief psychological interventions for consumers and their carers
  • Permanent Full Time – 80 hours per fortnight - Monday-Friday 0830-1700hrs, job share at 0.5EFT will be considered
  • Relocation opportunity to Geelong. Assistance available for suitable applicants

About the facility

Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provide integrated and recovery orientated mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and / or drug and alcohol issues, and their families.

The Community Acute Intervention Service is a 7 day a week team working across two shifts. The team is a tertiary-level multidisciplinary mental health drug and alcohol team. Its aim is to provide timely and effective assessment, treatment and support for individuals aged 16 years and older with high acuity mental health and / or AOD needs up to a maximum of a 28-day period. 

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated senior clinical psychologist who has a passion for providing brief-psychological interventions for consumers and their caregivers, whilst the consumer is experiencing acute mental health and / or alcohol and other drug difficulties.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will work alongside mental health clinicians, lived experience workers, an AOD clinical specialist and our medical workforce.

Essential: Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with endorsement to practice as a clinical psychologist
Essential: Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
Essential: Minimum of five years’ professional experience as a Psychologist Grade 2
Essential: Demonstrated skills in the assessment, treatment and care of people with acute mental health presentations
Essential: Well-developed knowledge of the Mental Health Act (2014) and other legislation relevant to care of those with mental illness
Essential: I agree to meet Barwon Health’s immunisation requirements (including full COVID vaccination) as set out in Barwon Health’s Staff Immunisation Policy as amended from time to time. I acknowledge that meeting this ongoing requirement is mandatory and a condition of any employment subsequently offered.
