About Central Resource Unit (CRU) 

CRU is the casual Nursing and Midwifery Bank at Barwon Health that is resourced using Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives (+/- dual registration) and Endorsed Enrolled Nurses. CRU provides staffing resources twenty four hours a day, seven days a week across the clinical units of Barwon Health to cover planned and emergent shortfalls within the service.

Permanent Pool staff members have the opportunity to work across a range of sites and a variety of speciality bed based services. Shifts are offered based on your prior experience, according to your skills and availability, allowing flexibility between your work and lifestyle. Supernumerary Shifts and Clinical support is given to all permanent Pool staff members. Opportunities for career progression between different clinical locations within the Permanent Pools. In addition transition your career via Discovery programs in specialised areas such as ED and ICU.

As part of the Permanent Pool through CRU you will be able to choose to work in one or more of the following areas:

1. Acute Pool- based at University Hospital Geelong, includes acute medical and surgical wards, specialty areas (ED, ICU, Operating services, Cardiac Services) and Women’s and Children’s Services (including Birth Suite, Special care Nursery, Post-natal ward)
2. Sub Acute Pool- based at McKelllar Centre at North Geelong, includes Inpatient Rehabilitation including Neuro and Stroke Rehabilitation,  Ortho and Trauma Rehabillitian, GEM and Palliative Care.
3. Aged Care- based at both Grace McKellar at North Geelong and Alan David Lodge at Grovedale. Our Aged care facilities deliver High Level C are, assisted living and also secure units for patients with dementia and Mental health patients.

About you  

As the successful applicant you will:

• Have minimum 12 months of clinical experience,
• Have excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and excellent clinical skills,
• Provide evidence based, high quality care to patients.
• Delivering consumer-centred care that meets best practice standards and in line with Barwon Health requirements
