About the facility

Barwon Health Corporate Finance is responsible for the management of all financial aspects of the organisation, including internal and external reporting. The Finance Department offers a positive, vibrant and friendly work environment that actively encourages initiative and new ideas. 

About the role

This is a great opportunity for a Financial Controller to join the Barwon Health Financial Control Team.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for Barwon Health’s financial and treasury systems and practices, ensuring financial information is timely, accurate, complete and compliant with relevant accounting, government and taxation principles.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide professional leadership and development of the staff within the Financial Control team, measured by the effectiveness and engagement of the team
  • Build productive working relationships with stakeholders in order to understand the financial information needs of end users
  • Produce end of month results that are timely, accurate, complete, and structured for the dual purpose of providing relevant information to internal users and meeting statutory obligations
  • Responsible for all external financial reporting including the annual statutory financial statements and all government reporting including monthly & quarterly results, confirmation of activity and other funding grants and various annual attestations
  • Preparation and management of the annual capital expenditure plan

The successful applicant will hold a relevant University accounting or commerce qualification, and be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or Certified Practicing Accountants.
