About the Short Stay Surgical
A key site associated with University Hospital Geelong, Youang Surgery Centre is a newly refurbished expansion to Barwon Health’s Operating Services. The service will be high turnover with quite the acute surgical demand.It is a 16-bed unit catering for surgical patients who need to remain in hospital for up to 48 hours. The ward admits post-operative patients from all surgical specialties including but not limited to ENT, general surgery, gynaecology, plastic surgery, orthopaedic, ophthalmology, vascular and urology. The service has a high patient turnover and well-developed processes to support all members of the team.
About the role
The ward is a 16 bed surgical ward which specialises in caring for patients undergoing elective or emergency procedures by providing pre and post-operative care. The service will be high turnover with quite the acute surgical demand.
As the Registered Nurse you will be responsible for the provision of patient focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to you, in order to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Delivering consumer centred care that meets best practice standards and in line with Barwon Health requirements.
- Providing quality patient care using an evidence based approach.
- Participation in regular audit processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies is maintained.
