About the facility
Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre is a recently upgraded facility located only minutes from the centre of Geelong. The centre is a 100 bed inpatient facility offering rehabilitation in Palliative care, Geriatric evaluation and management, Stroke, Trauma, orthopaedic and amputee service. The McKellar Centre offers a range of professional aged care services. It is situated on a vibrant community asset with parkland surrounds and incorporates state of the art equipment. Residents have access to a range of Allied Health services, including health promoting projects which encourage physical activity to optimise wellbeing.
About the role
This Grade 3 Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works within the Physiotherapy and broader inter-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality evidence-based therapy to inpatient clients at our Rehabilitation and acute sites.
As an AHA, you will be referred clients by a Physiotherapist to provide individual therapy, run exercise groups and assist the Physiotherapist with more dependant clients, with the goal of assisting clients to achieve their optimal functional outcomes during their inpatient stay. There is also a small non-clinical component to the role (administration, cleaning, etc.). You may be responsible for AHA student supervision and mentoring of junior AHA staff. This role will initially be based at the McKellar Rehabilitation Centre.
Whilst based in the Physiotherapy Department, this role may involve working as an AHA across Allied Health disciplines in the future.
