About the facility 

The Geelong Hospital's, Baxter Maternity Services is the referral centre for Geelong and surrounding areas and has approximately 2,400 births per year. Services include specialty pregnancy care clinics, including midwives clinics, adolescent pregnancy care, chemical dependency pregnancy care, shared care, midwifery group practice and specialist obstetric clinics. 
Midwifery Group Practice has been introduced in July 2008. This model of care offers women the continuity of a known midwife as their care provider, throughout their pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Other services provided at Barwon Health include Birthing Suite, ante/postnatal care, Special Care Nursery (Level 2), Maternity Day Assessment Unit, Early Parenting Breastfeeding Service and Extended Postnatal Care
